Alternative to Corel AfterShot Pro

I used the trial version of Corel AfterShot Pro today and I loved it. Sadly it costs quite a lot of money, and photography is only a "once in a while" hobby for me, so I don't intend to put as much money into it.

Are there any FLOSS or at least freeware alternatives to it? (GNU/Linux version mandatory.) I tried Fotoxx, which is close, but not as user friendly as AfterShot.

It's a bit strange answering my own question but... I found a good alternative to the described above application. It's called Raw Therapee and it's under GNU GPL license. In terms of powerfulness it's similar to AfterShot, but it's not as user friendly. It's good enough though and I bet it's going to get better with time.

It's available here and in many GNU/Linux distros repositories.

Would GIMP be the answer? It’s been around for ages and tries to emulate Photoshop as much as possible. Or is it the RAW conversion and photo collection management that’s most important to you?

I used GIMP a lot until now. Programs like AfterShot, Raw Therapee, etc are geared specifically to photography, not general 2d art like GIMP or Photoshop. Options like tone mapping, lens correction etc.
So GIMP is fine, it's just not the type of application that I look for.
